Ok... just triing this out... Has anyone done anything to get there teatchers mad because of your blindness? Well... you know the heavy braille books? well I asked her to cary some... And she kept on dropping them all over the place

Post 2 by purple penguin (Don't you hate it when someone answers their own questions? I do.) on Sunday, 17-Jun-2007 11:00:17

I believe just walking in the classroom made my teachers mad because they were not expecting a blind person. Then I attended a blind school for the last three years so that of course didn't happen. Now let's see how the college people will react. I think they will be better.

hmm... maybe.lol

Post 4 by Reyami (I've broken five thousand! any more awards going?) on Wednesday, 27-Jun-2007 5:44:31

I don't think this was because of my blindness, but I do remember back in third grade, I turned in a paper for one of my teachers that had Braille on it, and guess where it went? That's right, directly to my vision teacher. lol Damn, did I get a nice telling off. lol

Post 5 by HauntedReverie (doing the bad mango) on Wednesday, 27-Jun-2007 7:50:29

tenth grade geometry, lol, my teacher was informed that my braillest would be sitting in with me on math, being that's it's so visual, and my braille books were coming too. Lol, wound up with a C in that bitch's class.

Post 6 by Reyami (I've broken five thousand! any more awards going?) on Friday, 29-Jun-2007 9:38:48

At least you passed.

Post 7 by jamesk (This site is so "educational") on Friday, 29-Jun-2007 13:13:00

why would you ask your teacher to carry your books for you?

Post 8 by purple penguin (Don't you hate it when someone answers their own questions? I do.) on Friday, 29-Jun-2007 15:21:19

I never done this before but I'm pretty sure if your in a class with another blind person, you could find a way to pass notes in class to each other using a notetaker or the Perkins. The teachers can't read them.

Post 9 by Reyami (I've broken five thousand! any more awards going?) on Saturday, 30-Jun-2007 1:44:30

Yeah, but they could make you get up in front of the class and read them, and if you disobey that could land you in the principal's office.

Post 10 by Colombian Coke (Veteran Zoner) on Monday, 09-Jul-2007 19:03:27

yeah, the note-takers are great for passing notes! the problem is though, the teacher would know that something was going on and it's harder to hide for us than it is for a sighted person cause we can't tell when they're not looking

Post 11 by YankeeFanForLife! (Picapiedra: king of the boards!) on Monday, 09-Jul-2007 19:59:01

so when you go up to read it, you can just make some thing up. the payper can say1thing, and you say that it says some thing els.

Post 12 by Reyami (I've broken five thousand! any more awards going?) on Wednesday, 11-Jul-2007 22:17:26

lol, not if you're really bad at improvizing on the spot, They'd know you're making it up, just from the hessitancy in your voice, and they'd give the note to your Braille teacher, if you had one.

To post two, I found teachers getting angry at me when I was in college. There was a person who was blind who went to the same college that I did and graduated the year before I got there. He did some things that left a bad taste in the music teacher's mouths. They really didn't want to deal with me. It was one of those experiences that was hell when I was going through it, but as trite as this sounds, I do think I was better for having gone through it.

once, the teacher had me pass around papers. well I got disorreinted, and was trying to remember where I was going, and the teacher was like,
"Hurry up we have to get started!" ug! I was only 9 or so.

Post 17 by soaring eagle (flying high again!) on Tuesday, 25-Sep-2007 8:08:32

I actually was very disturbing in my math class one day and my teacher slapped me in the face, and I jumped up and said who the fuck are you to slap me, only my mom can do that. Lots of staying in my dorm room after that, may be for the good, got a's in my classes LOL. another time I paddled locked myself to a desk in music class, again causing trouble when the teacher tried to pull me into the hall the desk went with me.

Post 18 by battle star queen (I just keep on posting!) on Monday, 10-Dec-2007 14:44:41

how did you pad lock yourself to a desk? And as for teachers well in elevenith grade the math teeacher actually qit because she didn't want to deal with two blind students in her class.

Post 19 by Reyami (I've broken five thousand! any more awards going?) on Tuesday, 11-Dec-2007 0:13:57

She was certainly a coward for doing that.

Post 20 by Librated dilapidation (Zone BBS Addict) on Tuesday, 11-Dec-2007 18:32:49

When my Ceramics teacher found out that I was blind he tried to persuade me to drop the class. I refused and ended up with an A and some respect.
I had a teacher threaten to hit me over the head with a Braille book because I read it twice for free reading Friday. He was clinically psychotic. I feel bad for the person that actually got slapped by their math teacher. I would have beat the crap out of them. That’ shouldn’t have been taken lightly.

It’s actually this year. So, I am having my Chemistry teacher send me documents, and she would send me things with tables. Well, they wouldn’t open on the brailleNote, so we were both mad that it wouldn’t.

Post 22 by cumbiambera2005 (i just keep on posting!) on Thursday, 15-Jan-2009 8:29:44

Omg you guys actually had those kind of teachers? Lol I guess I've been pretty lucky! And yeah I used to pass notes all the time! Lol! Also had a lot of missing work for tenth grade English too! But as the saying goes, you get what you pay for! Lol!

Post 23 by Siriusly Severus (The ESTJ 1w9 3w4 6w7 The Taskmaste) on Thursday, 15-Jan-2009 21:35:44

I try not to miss work. My teacher, Ms. Sosa, is pretty cool, she’s just computer illiterate, which makes things a little harder. Well, we have a pretty good connection. I like to listen to her, so she basically pours all the secrets in her too me. I mean, I can’t get her to tell me what is on tests or anything, but, she’ll tell me about abnoxious students, stupid parents e-mails (one parent told her that her stools are too hard. Ha ha ha,) or what we are doing for the rest of the week. You know, stuff generally stuff that other teachers usually refuses to share.

In my seenior year of high school my suramics teacher didn't want to deal with me when I walked in to her class the first day at this new school. She hadn't taught a blind student before and I think she wa kind of scared. By the end of the semester she was not onluy leting me do my last project without assistance but had to keep telling the person who helped me in class to keep her hands off of my clay.

Hmm. Now that I'm in college, when I take those huge 200 plus students in a lecture hall type classes, I'm always the one in the back row who shouts, "No!" When the teachers ask if everyone can see the diagram, or the projector, etc.
It's fun, because they madly ajust, and still I protest that I cannot se it. No one's ever caught me yet, but....
Also, when I took drama last year, my teacher had this obsession with body language, gesturing, etc. And I was like, "sighted people are mad if they really do all this!" So he showed me a lot of those tricks. Lol girls were really jealous for that one, since apparently he was a cuty :D

Post 26 by SEPTEMBER-TWILIGHT (CAN I TALK? PLEASE?) on Thursday, 09-Apr-2009 20:41:23

roflmao nage. that sounds awesome, I totally would do that, sit in the back row and just yell, lol. But omg, I can't believe you guys had those kinds of teachers, that's just awful. All of my teachers are so nice and understanding and they really put an effort in to helping me whenever I need it, lol. They just get mad at me whenever I tell them I don't have my work because my braill note broke down or my laptop deleted my work. :D. Though, I use those excuses when I didn't do my hw, lol.

Post 27 by Feathered Serpent (I can't call it a day til I enter the zone BBS) on Thursday, 09-Apr-2009 20:46:43

waw. some of the teachers I herd about on here. I've Benn perty lucky so far. Thing is I'm late to some class's. Man it's so funny because the teachers don't know what to say. Thinking that it's going to offend me. Hahaha if they only new!

Post 28 by Siriusly Severus (The ESTJ 1w9 3w4 6w7 The Taskmaste) on Sunday, 10-May-2009 4:44:09

I've got a teacher positively outraged, though, she's forgotten it or whatever, or just chose not to remember, and is now wanting to be my best friend. I don't know what's up with her. Though our little/big problem was really not because of my blindness, but it's hilarious all the same.

So, I had tried to tell her months and months ago that her class is too slow, I still think so. It's so slow I tend to forget things or put off studying or doing homework for. Also it's a lot of mimicking which doesn't motivate me to learn or I think a lot of people is the same way too.

It's like say dormir or Hacer and we'd have to repeat instead of doing something more productive such as using these words more practically, such as writing a simple letter to someone or out producing it, and book work with copying sentences doesn't count. We can do all that basic studying at home. Well, so she refused to change her methods, which is for the better anyways, and I just thought this whole thing was ridiculous! So, I did it. I talked about her faults with others. Well, Ms. v Heard about it all and we fought over it. I lost of course and it wasn't funny then, but I really think I got her. I told her the truth of what she said and she didn't want to hear it. I stated her basic principals to her teaching method and all she did was scream louder. This is one sign of guilt.

;My science teacher is just like that! His teaching methods are... Any way you can yell in class and he does not care one bit. People always skip out of there as soon as they can.

Post 30 by Siriusly Severus (The ESTJ 1w9 3w4 6w7 The Taskmaste) on Sunday, 10-May-2009 23:20:06

Sounds awful. All you can do is keep low. That's the best thing you can do.
